What’s This All About?

Hello and welcome to my corner of the blogosphere. I’ve decided to get rid of 30+ lbs in 7 months, just in time for my 32nd birthday, and this blog will serve as a (painfully detailed) chronicle of my journey.

Let’s start by discussing my favourite topic: me. Female, 31 years old, overweight, out of shape and frequent user of the word “I”. Oh, did I mention I already have a blog? Yes, I’m an anonymous blogger on this website, although anyone with beginner-level hacker skills can probably figure out who I am. Note to wannabe or real hackers: I really like my closet so let me be.

There are several reasons why I’m journaling my weight loss anonymously. First, what I weigh and how much I want to lose is no one’s business but mine (and now yours). I don’t want to open myself up to criticism or faux-concern from friends or family about my goal. Secondly, anyone who’s ever attempted to get rid of weight will confirm that friends, family, coworkers, even acquaintances can sometimes sabotage your efforts, whether intentionally or not. Strangers won’t. Third, I don’t want to spend several minutes hours every day proofreading and beautifying my posts. This journal is going to follow the KISS principle: keep it short and sweet.

So, there you have it in a nutshell. Without further ado, here’s the skinny on me (forgive the pun):

  • Height = 5’1″
  • Starting Weight = 139 lbs
  • Goal Weight = 105 lbs
  • Timeline = 7 months

I plan to follow the Weight Watchers program (the old version) as I lost nearly 40 lbs doing so a few years ago. For the sake of keeping things simple, I’m going to distribute my weekly flex points evenly throughout the week and ignore activity points unless I have a physically rigorous or lengthy workout. I’ll keep a daily log of my food intake, including emotional eating triggers like shark week and bad days.

I’m also training for my first sprint triathlon, a dream I’ve yet to realize due to a knee injury. I’m going to establish a consistent workout schedule and follow easy routines from now until the end of December, then switch to an 11-week sprint triathlon program starting in January.

Measurements to follow tomorrow.

Good luck to me!
